Whether you are developing a public relations campaign solo, or you’re working with a professional, keeping abreast of PR strategy is important to your own success as a business owner. I’ve found these four digital colleagues to offer no-nonsense commentary and teaching on the latest in public relations campaign strategy. You should read them.
- Jason Falls: Social Media Explorer | Jason’s blog is my favorite by far because he writes like a journalist and provides in-depth, thought provoking information on social media and public relations. His was the first blog I found and followed in the space. I read Social Media Explorer because I learn stuff.
- David Armano: Logic + Emotion | Armano is a senior vice president at Edelman Digital, the interactive arm of global communications firm Edelman. He writes incredibly insightful posts on strategy and public relation in the context of social media and digital communication. As with Falls he is a no-bones-about-it strategist whose writing makes me think.
- Brad Phillips: Mr. Media Training | This is a no-nonsense blog about communicating with the media. Phillips offers a tips and strategy that are relevant. He also mixes a bit of fun with his more serious stuff. Check out: “12 Things 1980s Music Can Teach Public Speakers.
- Harry Hoover: Thinking | I don’t know Harry personally, but I can tell he’s a darn cool cat from his blog. He knows his stuff and presents tips and tactics — let’s not forget strategy too — for professionals. I read Thinking at least weekly and value the learning I get from his contributions to the profession. He likes wine too.
There are a lot of younger, rising stars who read my blog — students in PR programs around Indiana and throughout the Midwest and the country. These experts are worth following and learning from. Your campaign and strategy development skills will improve from following these guys. That means happier clients or bosses or both.
Okay, now lock your jaw and get at it. Read’em!
